News From The Tour
Day One
The tour started its Pan European adventure this morning at Liffey Valley, Dublin, opening to a queue of excited Harry Potter fans from across Ireland.
The curtain at the entrance to the tour was pulled back as the first ticket holders came inside. Three amazing Hogwarts themed areas were waiting for them, including costumes, props, the new "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" video game, and of course the opportunity to cast a spell and enter the competition to win the ultimate prize: the chance to visit Leavesden Studios in England to see the Harry Potter sets and a chance to appear in one of the final films.
Ayshan, aged 12, from Stamullen said "it was just like being in one of the films". She wants to be a fashion designer and loved the costumes of Professor Slughorn and Dumbledore. Nikki, aged 7, and sister Aishling, aged 9, big fans from Malahide used the Wingardium Leviosa charm to enter the competition. But Robert, aged 12, from Dublin was a bit worried he would faint if he won the big prize. Luke, aged 12, from Cork promised "I would jump into a nettle bush and go totally mad if I won the studio prize". His brother Rory summed up the new video game as "class".
Aoife and Fiona, both 17, made the seven hour round trip from Galway by train to experience the tour which they summed up as "unreal" and well worth the journey. Glenn, Connor and Sarah, all 12 yr olds, from Co Meade admitted to "loving the tour and being Harry Potter fans since they were born, even though we were only tiny when the first film came out".
The tour will be open to more competition winners for another day in Dublin on 11 June, followed by further stops in the UK and across Europe.
Many winners came on board equipped with their own wands, hats and Hogwarts uniforms. All left with a photograph of their experience and the chance they might just be visiting the studios.
